In fact, when Yahoo published a blog post about a campus beef between two American universities, it found itself banned in a number of countries because of what was written there.Yahoo definitely doesn't want its readers' opinions about campus fights, as well as issues related to racial discrimination, making their way to the World Wide Web. When a student wrote a blog post about their long w ait to be allowed to enter class, Yahoo banned the article. The writer was talking about the case of Harkat-ul-Jihad University in Pakistan, where the college students can only enter through a specific gate, and not the regular campus gates. But in terms of Yahoo content, those wishing to share their views are not allowed to do so.A press release by a Hong Kong journalist clarified that Yahoo's 'community standards' really is a national policy, and not an independent statement. It basically means that Yahoo cannot be held responsible for what anyone writes and can only be held responsible for their own content.So while the 'community standards' policy at Yahoo seems to give the impression that the organization does not wish to endorse any form of speech in any form, the truth is much more complex. If Yahoo is to continue to claim that they do not condone racism or any form of racism, then they should not be allowed to publish such content at all.
